Creative & Design Leader

I have been a creative force behind great websites, advertising, products and the teams that brought them all together.

Big Right Brain. As the Executive Creative Director for FCB NY, I headed the Digital, Direct Marketing, and Advertising accounts for some of the most identifiable brands in the world. Diet Coke, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, and Trane / American Standard to name a few. Additionally, I’ve done extensive traditional advertising and Web/Digital marketing and design work for Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Porsche, Harley Davidson, Wells Fargo, CitiGroup, PNC, Reebok, Armani Exchange, Rosetta Stone, and others.

Smaller Right Brain. In addition to handling all of the branding, marketing, and web for my own businesses, I’ve also helped dozens of startups and small businesses with a wide array of projects.

Out There. I’ve also as a professional photographer, furniture designer and craftsman, and helped develop prototype playground toys for a major architectural project in New York City.

Successful Entrepreneur

Beginning in 1997 when I co-founded my first internet e-commerce business, I've started, built, operated, and sold four of my own companies.

RETAIL, E-COMMERCE, & CATALOG. ModernTots was founded as an e-commerce site to create and curate modern-designed products for homes with children. The business grew rapidly and was featured prominently in the NY Times and other publications. We quickly expanded into a retail showroom model with a corresponding periodic print catalog.

E-COMMERCE. Many people have odd memories of the sock puppet, but in the mid-late 1990s a business partner and I were actually some of the first to sell and ship pet food and supplies online.

FURNITURE DESIGN. What grew out of a passion for building my own furniture became a business model for the internet generation. Creative high-end pieces that could also be purchased conveniently online and then shipped flat-pack to the consumer’s home with only simple assembly required. This business was also featured in the NY Times and other publications.

RESTAURATEUR. Recently I created Little Sparrow, an award-winning American bistro and Craft Cocktail bar in Santa Ana, CA. Little Sparrow became an import beacon of revitalization efforts in a historic downtown historically known for crime. In addition to being recognized by the City for our efforts, we were named “Restaurant of the Year” by Orange Coast Magazine and were selected by BravoTV and featured as one of the 16 “Best New Restaurants” in the U.S.

Business Consultant

SUMMARY: Wide-ranging experiences in forecasting, consumer and B2B marketing, product development, retail development, information systems, internet commerce, branding, innovation, and international growth.

  • Before attending college, I was as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst. At a young age I dove head-first into Information Processing and Analytics within the Finacial Services and Pharmaceutical industries.
  • I left the field of computing to attend college, first in the Silicon Valley, then in New York City, and studied Fine Art and Philosophy.
  • During several years with J. Crew in their New York City Headquarters, I learned fashion buying, merchandising, forecasting, and catalog design and development. I also was part of the team that helped open their very first retail store in the South Street Seaport.
  • Worked with HarperCollins Publishers, actively involved with National Trade Sales and Marketing for both Children’s and Adult titles. Further, I helped develop an in-house digital imaging studio for Children’s Book art, saving the company an average of almost $10,000 per book versus using traditional design and scanning methodologies.
  • After selling my first dot-com e-commerce business, I was recruited to become a Director with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), arguably one of the premier Management Consulting firms. In addition to Fortune 500 client work, we worked to position BCG to offer a variety of then emerging Internet services in standalone offices in New York and San Francisco.
  • And as an Entrepreneur. See below.

In these roles and in working directly with many startups, small and large businesses, I have developed a unique and diverse understanding of business environments, industries, and products.
